Middleberg School fields two academic buzzer bowl teams: 5th and 6th grade and 7th and 8th grade. Students are selected for the teams through competitive try-outs based on not only knowledge, but also on quickness in responding to questions asked. The 5th and 6th grade team attends at least three OAAC (Oklahoma Association for Academic Competition) tournaments a year: district, regional, and either area or Phoenix. The 7th and 8th grade team participates in their level OAAC play-off series and also in the state ORES (Organization of Rural Elementary Schools ) tournament. Mrs. Joyce coaches the teams.
The 7th and 8th grade academic team traveled to Shawnee on Saturday, December 3 for the ORES (Organization of Rural Elementary Schools) State Academic Tournament. With several wins and only two losses, the team earned fourth place in the state. Great job, team and Coach Joyce!
